PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS

As the Principal of Athlone Community College, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website. Athlone Community College, which is a part of Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board, is a co-educational, multicultural and student centred post-primary school delivering educational excellence within Athlone and the wider community.

We pride ourselves in providing excellence in teaching and learning to all students in an inclusive school environment. This excellence is provided by our passionate teachers who inspire students in their classrooms to aim high and work hard. Our ethos encourages a mutual respect for one another, where the joy of learning becomes a reciprocal experience. “Even while we teach, we learn”.

Athlone Community College is a place where tradition meets innovation, and where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a community where respect, inclusion, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do.

Our classrooms are well resourced with learning materials and digital technology that enhance the learning experience for all. Our school building is a stunning modern build which encourages creativity and innovation.

At Athlone Community College, we strive to create an environment that fosters academic achievement, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff are committed to providing a well-rounded education that prepares our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Whether it’s through our comprehensive academic programmes, diverse extracurricular activities, or our focus on student well-being, we aim to nurture the unique talents and abilities of each student.

We believe in the importance of a holistic education—one that not only focuses on academic success but also on the development of character, resilience, and a sense of social responsibility. Our school is a place where students are encouraged to think critically, act ethically, and contribute positively to society.

There is a strong culture of partnership among all members of the school community. Parents are invited to participate in the life of the school through the Parents’ Association and various aspects of school life.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about the vibrant life at Athlone Community College. Whether you are a prospective student, a parent, or a member of the wider community, you will find a wealth of information about our school, our ethos, and the many opportunities we offer.

I look forward to working with you all in supporting and nurturing the young people who attend Athlone Community College.
